In this section, you will read the Chinese immigrants' stories. These stories cover the people from celebrities to ordinary people. The section tries to show many milestone events in Chinese immigration history in the U.S. through these personal stories and add the human touch to the harsh exclusion law. Despite the law, the Chinese in American continued their daily business and made contributions to the society. With the law, however, they dedicated themselves to one more cause: struggle for equality and civil rights. They both gained and lost a lot on this path but the achievements as well as the hardship won them great respect and spurred the social reflection on race. The history of Chinese exclusion has thus become an integral part of American legacy in which people rethink freedom and human right.
